Emergency Medical Services
Knox County Emergency Medical Services cover all of Knox County with two Mobile Intensive Care Capable Units (MICU) and one Basic Life Support Unit. Staff members receive rigorous training far above state-mandated minimum standards. Our MICU units are equipped to deliver sophisticated care including airway management, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, and drug therapy directly to injured or ill patients.
Ambulance units are strategically placed in areas of the county with the greatest populations. To activate our Emergency Medical Services call 9-1-1.
CELL PHONE CALLERS: If you are using a cell phone, be sure that you are connected to your local 911 service and that the emergency dispatcher knows your exact location. When you are calling on your cell phone your call can go to a tower that directs your call to a 911 center other than the Knox County 911.
